The Ultimate Vegan Skincare Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin

For the most part, I’m an extremely lazy person when it comes to my skin. It’s not that I don’t care about it, but more that there are only so many hours in a day to do things. (Plus, there’s the added stress of having a kid.) 

However, dealing with adult acne has gotten me interested in finding a skincare routine that works for me; specifically one that doesn’t involve too many steps or products. 

After doing some research and experimenting with different ingredients and products myself, I’ve come up with what I think is the ultimate vegan skincare routine for clear, radiant skin:

Skin Cleanser

For starters, it’s important to wash your face at least twice a day. If you’re an oilier teen, that number can go up to four times per day; if you’re slightly less oily or have dry skin, stick with two. 

The right cleanser will be gentle enough not to strip the natural oils in your skin (which helps regulate your oil production) but still cleanse deep down where dirt and bacteria live.

It’s also crucial that you avoid ingredients like sulfates, parabens and alcohol since they can irritate sensitive skin; instead look for cleansers made from ingredients like aloe vera extract and soothing essential oils like rosewater or tea tree essential oil (which has antibacterial properties).

To apply the cleanser: Take one pump of liquid into palms and massage into damp skin for 30 seconds before rinsing off with warm water.

Cleansing Oil

Makeup removers are great for removing your face makeup, but that doesn’t mean you should wash your face with them. 

Cleansing oils can be used to remove waterproof mascara and other stubborn makeup, but they’re also excellent at deep cleansing the skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

You’ve probably heard that oil isn’t good for skin, but there’s a reason why so many skincare companies recommend using an oil cleanser at night: these products are designed to gently remove impurities from the surface of your skin without stripping away its moisture barrier (the layer of lipids on top of our skin).
